What can I do? It's the most asked question from our members and supporters. We often answer by advising you to join our committees, attend our events, take part in community efforts...and so many of you do (make sure you keep scrolling to see our Take Action section).  If you're thinking broader, Florida-focused, we urge you to visit the newly redesigned LWVFL website that offers other avenues of outreach.
 
Thinking even bigger? The national League of Women Voters also has Take Action opportunities. There is a place for you locally, state-wide, nationally to make your voice heard to leaders across the spectrum.
 
Most importantly, though, is reaching out to your social and family circles, ensuring that they are prepared to VOTE in the upcoming general election on November 3rd. Have the conversations, offer the information, and share the enthusiasm to keep defending democracy. 
 
And if you are in need of a mental and emotional diversion from the divisiveness of politics, take advantage of a cultural learning opportunity this Sunday, August 30 without having to travel far (plus it's FREE). Details below.

August 30 | Noon–4:30 p.m. A Unique Experience: Building Connection and Belonging 

Join the LWVOC DEIA Committee and the Forever Welcome Foundation for an interactive workshop focused on creating communities where everyone belongs.The event is free and open to everyone—League members and non-members alike. Before the workshop we'll join the Sikh Society of Central Florida for a temple service followed by lunch.

Come learn, share, and connect with others who want to help build more welcoming communities.

SEPT 9 Hot Topics, The Next Chapter: Orange County Mayoral Forum
The candidates are set. Join us for a conversation with the primary winners, Tiffany Moore Russell and Chris Messina, who are vying to become the next Orange County Mayor. The moderator will be longtime Leaguer and the first elected Orange County Mayor Linda Chapin.
SELL-OUT PROBABILITY IS HIGH!
The Immigration Committee is hosting a school supply drive at next month's Hot Topics.
 
They'll be collecting these supplies for the Haitian community in partnership with HavServ, a volunteer service network dedicated to improving lives in Haiti through community projects, pro bono services, and fundraising, with opportunities for both in-person and remote participation.
 
Grab some extra school supplies when shopping and drop them off at the Winter Park Events Center (even if you can't attend Hot Topics) between 11am-1pm.
