Did you celebrate Women's Equality Day or some might say "Inequality" Day this week? As most of us know, 105 years later we are still far from equal.  For a quick refresher on the 19th Amendment, enjoy this short video narrated by historian Heather Cox Richardson on YouTube here.

And since we're celebrating labor this weekend..."Women by and large led the Labor Movement, organizing unions, leading strikes and, in some cases, even laying down their own lives and livelihoods for the cause—meet 10 influential women union heroes who will inspire you to achieve inclusion, equality and better conditions, no matter where you work." Read FULL article HERE  from Parade magazine.

For more women-centered media, the Global Peace Film Fest Sept. 16-21, will host 20 films with 13 of them directed by women.  LWVOC members/supporters can use a unique code L3@wv for online ticket sales. With the use of this code, both get 10% off each ticket AND GPFF will donate $4 from each ticket to LWVOC.  Two movies listed below may be of particular interest:
Lilly starring Patricia Clarkson as Lilly Ledbetter (Tues. 9/16, 6pm at Enzian Theater). The film covers her story from working in the Goodyear Tire factory in Alabama, through her sex discrimination lawsuit that went to the Supreme Court, to the signing of the Lilly Ledbetter Act.
She Runs the World, about Allyson Felix, the most decorated track and field athlete in history, who fought for the rights of women athletes after her sponsor cut her pay by over 50% when she was pregnant.

EARLY voting goes through Sunday, Aug. 31 (10am - 6pm) daily. For details about voting sites, visit https://www.ocfelections.gov/early-voting

Have you heard about the Driver's License dilemma that some are experiencing when they arrive to vote?
"Under a new policy, renewal or replacement Florida driver's licenses now get a new, randomized ID number to help prevent fraud and identity theft. That ID might not match the one on your voter registration."
