In 74 days, we'll be participating in the NOV 5 election.  If you're thinking that this week's primary was a "job well done," it certainly was by our AAP (Adopt-a-Precinct) volunteers who managed polling sites as well as those who fed them during the long day!  But voter turnout, not so much....

These are the abysmal numbers from the Orange County SOE office:
Registered Voters:  811,612
Ballots Cast:   137,918
Voter Turnout:  16.99%

Democracy demands participation for success.  You made a "voting plan" for this week's primary and now, we need you to make a plan to help us encourage Orange County citizens to register and show up to VOTE!

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
RECYCLE THOSE SIGNS  In partnership with the Orange County, FL Gov., cities of Orlando and Winter Park, we are collecting campaign signs from the primary.  The signs are sent to NuCycle where they are converted into Enviro-Fuelcubes® used by the cement and electrical power industries to replace coal. In 2022, the program’s first year, it diverted 11,140 pounds in campaign signs from the landfill.

When you drop off your signs, REMOVE the metal frame from the plastic sign and place in appropriate cart as shown above.  With your neighbor's permission, collect as many as you can in your neighborhood and bring them to one of these drop-off sites.

Leaguers, keep scrolling for volunteer opportunities to help with this effort.

The race for state attorney in the Ninth Judicial Circuit is contentious this year. The former Democratic officeholder seeks a return to the position, an independent candidate wants to keep his job and a Republican aspires to be the outlier in the election.

With the incredible success of this year's Hot Topics, we want to take this opportunity to THANK our sponsors.  With their help, we're reaching more of the community as we seek to empower voters through education.

Sponsors are vital to our work to empower voters by providing timely information for the benefit of non-partisan civic engagement in our community.

To further explore how becoming a Hot Topics Sponsor can align with your business goals, please contact LWVOC Vice President, Lee Rambeau Kemp HERE

A range of sponsorship levels are available.
