There's much to celebrate this month for the League of Women Voters of Orange County.  Not only is it our 85th birthday, it is also the anniversary of the admittance of men to the LWV of the US!  Two former LWVOC Co-Presidents share their perspectives: Read Gloria Pickar's piece in today's Orlando Sentinel HERE and view Linda Chapin's short video on YouTube HERE remembering the historic 1974 vote.

Enjoy the snapshots shown below of some of the MANY League volunteers who happen to be men (top to bottom L-R): former LWVOC Presidents-Charley Williams, Gloria Pickar, Michele Levy, Ann Hellmuth; Dean Johnson and Ann Patton; Marty Sullivan and Eugene Stoccado; Linda Dalton, Mary Montanus, Victor Collazo; Sue Foreman, Lyn and David Berelsman, Charlie Behrens and LWVOC President Kathy Schmitz

THANK  YOU to all the MEN who can't be shown but are doing their part to help us empower voters and defend democracy.

WHO HAS YOUR VOTE? It’s a thrilling time for Orange County voters! The last time we had the chance to choose a new supervisor of elections, Bill Clinton was president! Since 1996, Bill Cowles faithfully served as our supervisor, winning re-election every four years until his retirement in January. But now, the stage is set for a new era!

In March, Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Glen Gilzean, a Republican, to step into this pivotal role. The race is heating up with three Democrats and one NPA candidate actively vying for the position. While Gilzean hasn’t yet revealed his election plans, he’s set to make an appearance at the highly anticipated June 10 Hot Topics candidate forum to discuss the upcoming fall elections.

BRING YOUR QUESTIONS for these candidates!  (Hint: only Leaguers can ask questions, so Join Now if you want to take part.)
