Celebrating our League Volunteers reached a new height on Tuesday Dec. 3rd when the Democracy Defenders of Adopt-A-Precinct and Feed Our Precinct were recognized at a casual reception at CB Bistro and Jazz Club in MetroWest. AAP is a major revenue source for the LWVOC (literally tens of thousands of dollars) and couldn't be accomplished without the commitment of our members to donate their time and pay in service to the program.
Volunteer Recognition Committee members Saudi Ellis and Barbara Lanning worked in record time to put together a fun, festive, and fitting event for the AAP and FOP teams. Pres. Kathy Schmitz welcomed members and a special surprise guest, newly elected Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel and LWVOC member; she shared her appreciation of our efforts and plans for the reorganization and future of the Supervisor of Elections Office. AAP Coordinator Mary Montanus and FOP Anne Coppenhaver were feted for their many years of service to the program, and all 106 members of the AAP and FOP teams received certificates of appreciation and a commemorative button.
